Abstract: Characteristics of relativistic ion motion through a crystal near one of the crystal axes are discussed. The main features of such motion in a crystal are compared for protons and for highly charged ions. The possibility of bend-ind of relativistic ion beams due to their multiple scattering on atomic strings in a bent crystal is discussed
