Abstract: Twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) steel offers high strength and ductility. However, in this study, deformation-induced detwinning was studied to prove that not all twins significantly benefit the mechanical properties. The quasi in situ observation results indicated that submicron-sized twins were unstable during Charpy impact loading
