Abstract

Imagology studies the representations of otherness in literature: other countries, other people. This critical approach has determined its fields. Dealing with several French travels accounts in Russia published during the 19h century (Mme de Stael, Dumas, Gautier), we can see how images can appear and flourish in travel accounts as well as in literary works, as both genres share their words and concepts about otherness
