Contesting growth and sustainability in Indonesia’s capital city relocation: a corpus ecolinguistic study

Title: Contesting growth and sustainability in Indonesia’s capital city relocation: a corpus ecolinguistic study
Authors: Suhandano, S.; Istianah, A.; Febrina, R.
Abstract: The global environmental crisis has triggered academic discussions on how infrastructure discourse often eliminates the environment as a part of the ecosystem. One noticeable contested issue is Indonesia’s capital city relocation from Jakarta to Penajam Paser Utara, Borneo Island. Some research has discussed the new capital city (NCC) discourse, but the analysis from a corpus ecolinguistic perspective is absent. It is hypothesised that the lexemes "growth" and "sustainability" in the NCC legal documents represent the government’s intention to communicate the relocation intention and legitimise the plan. This paper investigates the employment of lexemes "growth" and "sustainability" in the NCC legal documents using Sketch Engine, an online corpus tool developed by Adam Kilgarriff. Additionally, we also observed the nominalisation and transitivity of the concordances where the lexemes were used in the documents

Synaesthetic metaphor and its reproduction in Russian-to-English translation: a frame-based study

Title: Synaesthetic metaphor and its reproduction in Russian-to-English translation: a frame-based study
Authors: Simonenko, M. A.; Kazaryan, S. Y.
Abstract: The paper offers speculations and inferences about linguistic synaesthesia and the synaesthetic metaphor. The combination of several methods developed by different theories was first applied for the study of the synaesthetic metaphor. Such an approach allowed to elicit eight major translation strategies ranging from full or partial reproduction of the intended synaesthesia to a full loss of any synaesthetic effect when the original synaesthetic metaphors were translated into hypallages, comparisons and non-metaphors

Title: Artistic means of childhood trauma representation in American 9/11 literature
Authors: Shalagina, O. V.; Shamina, V. B.
Abstract: The paper provides an analysis of how American 9/11 literature artistically represents the traumatization of children, conveys their psychological experiences and the subsequent journey towards healing in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks. As a result of the conducted research, we draw the conclusion that 9/11 literature employs artistic techniques to portray the trauma experienced by child characters, illustrating their inner journey
